Thank you very much for your patience over the last few weeks! I am pleased to inform you that I have had the chance to consult our schools and update our First Communion plans with our more relaxed COVID-19 protocols in mind.
When Fr. Jim and I first came up with the First Communion schedule, there were going to be two priests on hand at St. Benedict’s. However, with only myself here, that same schedule is unmanageable. For that reason, our schools have agreed to consolidate the First Communion schedule into one Mass per school:
-
Wednesday, April 20th at 6:30 PM: St. Scholastica
-
Thursday, April 21st at 6:30 PM: Our Lady of Fatima
-
Tuesday, April 26th at 6:30 PM: Guardian Angels
-
Wednesday, April 27th at 6:30 PM: Lumen Christi
-
Tuesday, May 3rd at 6:30 PM: St. Benedict’s
If your child has been attending a different school (especially virtual school), please fill out this form so that we can confirm a suitable First Communion date.
I am especially happy to confirm that we CAN accommodate more guests at these Masses! However, given the size of some of these liturgies, I ask that each child be accompanied by no more than SIX guests – up to seven attendees total.
Here are a few more things to keep in mind for First Communion:
-
Please ensure that you attend the celebration of First Communion assigned to your school. With several hundred students receiving First Communion, this keeps crowds manageable at each liturgy!
-
Please arrive fifteen minutes early. This is very important in order to get the liturgy started promptly, and also to give you a chance to find seating.
-
Please respect the prayerful nature of the Mass. Please do not chew gum or bring in any food or drink. Please turn off cell phones and electronic devices before the celebration.
-
Photography is not permitted during Mass. There will be an opportunity after Mass to take individual photos, but we ask you to respect the liturgy and refrain from taking photographs during Mass itself.
