Baptism

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

Parents are the primary source of faith for the child. It is your duty to share the faith by word and example, enabling your child to grow in the Roman Catholic faith.

Baptisms at St. Benedict Parish normally takes place every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month at 1:30pm.

Families who are registered and/or live within the boundaries of our parish (SOUTH OF DERRY ROAD in MILTON)  should contact the parish office  at least two months in advance to schedule their child’s baptism.  If you are not yet registered with us, please complete the PARISH ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM.

Parents are required to attend a pre-baptismal course held on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

Before choosing the Sponsors, please take note of the following:

  • A Sponsor must  be a Baptized Roman Catholic, who has been Confirmed in the Catholic faith, practicing their faith regularly and more than sixteen (16) years of age.

  • A Baptized person who belongs to a non-catholic community may be admitted only in company with a Roman Catholic sponsor, and then simply as a witness to the baptism.

Parents cannot be Godparents.

Children 8 years or older are required to complete the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC) program before being baptized.

Please contact the parish office for more information.
